Description
‘TWILIGHT’ thornless blackberry is an exciting, new, early season semi-erect blackberry variety! ‘Twilight’ is known for its outstanding blackberry jam flavor with hints of floral honey notes. It is early-mid ripening and produces large, very firm berries with durable, glossy midnight purple skin and a distinguished crisp textured “pop” when eaten. Less bleeding and handles better than other blackberry cultivars such as ‘Triple Crown,’ which it replaces.
Superior in not only flavor and size compared to ‘Triple Crown’ but also in vigor. High yields are borne on fully thornless semi erect canes in early mid-season. Self-fruitful. Shows excellent disease resistance. This blackberry may be sensitive to extreme heat, so for trial in hot regions, and far northern regions only. CANNOT SHIP TO CA, OR.
The best of eastern and western blackberries has been traditionally bred (NON-GMO) to create ‘Twilight’, a new, distinctive, hardy, thornless, semi-erect blackberry variety out of Oregon State! Originating from seed produced from a cross between the thornless female blackberry plant ‘Ouachita’ and the thornless, male parent blackberry plant ‘ORUS 2867-4’.
