We recommend planting in seedling containers in rich, loose potting soil first and then planting these in the field or yard. Seedling trees must be grown in shade until 30 inches tall (year 2 or 3) and not in full sun and must never dry out. If grown in pots, the pots must never freeze solid. You can also direct-plant these into worked and loosened soil, kept covered with shade the first summer or two.
