Delicious large hazelnuts with disease resistance on this seedling strain that was 25 years in the making in NY. Comes from the expert breeding work of Dawn and Jeff Zarnowski in New York. An eastern strain that is very resistant to filbert blight. These are the best of the best seedlings from extensive breeding work (best of 10,000 tree!) to produce a dependable hazelnut that produces great nuts and is disease resistant in the eastern US. An excellent early season POLLEN SOURCE for bees!
The nuts to start these trees are are from mother trees with well filled nuts, with short to medium length husks that allows the nuts to fall freely to enable harvesting. Some trees are over twenty five years old without any signs of blight and we do not spray any fungicides or pesticides. Plant 10-15 feet apart.
