Description
A popular, fast-growing native tree. Being a legume, it fixes nitrogen and is related to black locust. The foot long, leathery seed pods contain a sweet pulp, hence the name. These pods are used for livestock feed. Some permaculturists plant these for silvoculture or agroforest purposes, including in between fruit trees. Has very large thorns. Gleditsia triacanthos
