Peaceful Heritage

A Company Born from a Lifelong Dream & Passion

Take yourself back to when you were a child and you discovered something new. In your eyes,
it was so spectacular that you decided it was what you wanted to do when you grew up.
You didn’t know how and you didn’t know when, but you knew that it was a magic you
wanted in your life forever.

Most of us do not get to turn our childhood fantasies into reality, but Blake Cothron did.
As a boy, he loved exploring nature and connecting with the natural world in a way that many of us lose as we age. His little 6′ x 3′ home garden in his parent’s suburban Kentucky backyard in the 1990s was started out of curiosity but within a few years turned into an intense passion for plants, gardening, and nature.  He soon developed a desire to learn everything he could about fruiting plants and trees in the early 2000s. This led to him pruning neighbor’s trees and planting trees of his own.  This intensified with him traveling the USA working in organic orchards and nurseries, trialing different species and cultivars, experimenting with techniques, 1000s of hours of researching and trying new strategies for over 20 years.

He kept his childhood dream alive by building and founding Peaceful Heritage Nursery LLC in 2014, which allows him to assist many to reconnect to the magic of the Earth by creating their own natural backyard oasis, growing food, and helping wildlife through native plantings. He has published two books on organic agriculture, currently hosts the Bluegrass Permaculture Guild, uploads free, educational videos to Youtube about sustainable
agriculture, leads classes and lectures at respectable Universities like Cornell and KSU, as well as gives free workshops.  His knowledge and passion, as well as his strong Christian values and impeccable quality and service standards are imbued in everything Peaceful Heritage Nursery does and is.

God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.‘ Hebrews 6: 10-12

What Distinguishes Us From Other Nurseries?

First what we are not: we’re not a big box online nursery.  We’re not a cheap tree mill.  What we are is a family-owned company that cares about what we do, how we show up to the world, and how we serve you as our customer.  We are a small team of horticultural artisans, plant explorers, and highly skilled plant propagators.  This is our craft, our passion, and our role in society to try and make the world a better place through education and organic agriculture.  Our company prioritizes the education, empowerment, and success of those who choose us.

We recognize that there are too many unscrupulous and low-quality Internet nurseries out there that have ripped people off and hurt the trust in online nurseries, so we strive to be the opposite and surprise you with our high quality products and services.
Everything we do, from the way we pack your order, to never spraying synthetic
pesticides, is for the good of our planet. When you purchase from us, you are
supporting a small business that goes above and beyond to provide the utmost care to both planet and customer.  And, if something goes amiss along the way, we show up to make it right and come up with a viable solution.  Our full Terms and Guarantee can be found HERE

Verified Customer Testimonials

“Just got my order. Impressive! Some of the finest bare root stock that I have ever ordered. As the retired Grounds Supervisor of the University of Nebraska-Kearney, I believe that over the years I have purchased from more than a dozen companies, several 100 bare roots. These are some of the finest. You are my new go to company for my small farm. Congratulations on a job well done.”

-Larry R. Grand Island, NE

“Hi! We’re on our second year with the passion fruit as they survived our brutal Chicago winter! We’ve got 5-7 shoots coming up at each spot…Thank you so much! We love our passionfruit!”

– Jennifer C. Pallatine, IL

“Thank you! I have had very good luck with your plants and enjoy ordering from you.”

– Darla S. Stafford Springs, CT

“I wanted to let you all know that the KSU [ Chappell pawpaw tree I purchased ] from you all is doing great, and it’s easily the healthiest tree I purchased this past season. It’s doing well even in full sun! Thank you all so much for the great service and very high quality tree.”

-Nikhil U.Summerfield, NC

“Just wanted to drop you a note of thanks. I bought several pear and chestnut trees from you earlier this Spring. They are all leafing out now and look great. I just helped a friend plant 10 trees he purchased from another place and I cannot begin to describe how much different they are. Your pear trees were all about 4-6 feet tall and had about a 1 inch diameter trunk with a substantial root system. His trees looked like small twigs and were about 1 foot tall. The was a similar difference in the size of the chestnut trees. The odd thing is that these were similarly priced. I feel like I am at least a couple of years ahead with your stock. I will definitely recommend your nursery to any of my friends who might be thinking of planting fruit trees.” Ed B. Middletown, KY

Last year (2016) I found your nursery and saw that your trees were sold bare root. I was interested in some of the varieties you offered, but I had tried planting bare root trees in the past that I ordered from other nurseries and every single tree soon died. I thought I was probably wasting my money getting trees from you. But, they sounded good, so I went ahead and ordered trees from you anyway. They have grown far better than any other trees I’ve gotten from other nurseries and want to make another order in 2017.

Wilbert M., Richmond, Kentucky

“I just received my paw paws and I gotta say WOW! Packed very well, grafts nice and low on the plant, awesome! Thank you. Looking forward to more business with you.”

Glen L. NY

“Your plants have done so much better
than the potted ones from the local nursery; they survived.
And they look alive and vibrant!”

Lisa Y. Goergetown, OH

“Hello again, I just wanted to say thank you for my order and going out of your way to make it work. I really do appreciate it and your time. I look forward to ordering from you in the future to expand our orchard.?

Amanda B. Collins, WV

“Thank you….I received the shipment yesterday on the 21st of March ( only 3 days)…everything arrived safely, and I was able to plant immediately…Loved seeing the high grafts on the persimmon trees, and was impressed by the roots on all specimens. Thanks for the extensive information on planting that you sent with notice of shipment. The most detail I have seen yet from a supplier. Best to you!”

Jay M. Ligonier, PA

“I ordered five persimmon trees after reading a positive review on the ourfigs.com forum. I was so impressed by the size and quality that I had to order more. I wish I would have ordered even more now. I want to start an orchard of them…I will have to check your website again because I was thrilled with what I got so far and was impressed by the care and communication you give regarding orders. I will surely order again from Peaceful Heritage. “

Bill L. Lancaster, PA

“Thank you for the service you offer! I have some peach trees that I got from you a few years ago and they are absolutely thriving! They bore peaches for the first time last year right in time for my wedding and they were delicious!”

Jake D. Asheville, NC

“Ordered three Hazelnut bushes. 1 yr old plants were in phenomenal shape! I’ve ordered plants from many, many different companies and these plants were among the best. Great root development! Will order from again.”

Marcus B. Morgantown, IN

“Hi! I am so very pleased with the fig and mulberry trees I ordered last fall! Both leafed out well and the 3 figs and 1 mulberry that produced this first season had spectacular flavor.”

Karina T. Richmond, KY

“I see your grafted pawpaws are back. My KSU-Atwood [from another nursery] hasn’t even fully leafed out this year, so I’m assuming the graft is failing. I’d love to replace it with one of yours, as you deal in superior plants.”

Mike W. Stearns, KY

“[My Ultra-Select pawpaw trees I ordered] came in perfect condition. I just wanted to thank you guys for such a quick response, and for having awesome customer service. I think all nurseries should learn to operate like what you guys have going on. Thank you for everything, and I will definitely order from you guys again!”

Tom C. Pennsylvania
