Description
WOW. Outstandingly tasty and rich strawberry flavor on this ancient heirloom green fig, with far better eating quality than most. Strawberry red pulp with a thick, sweet, rich, luscious texture and complex flavor. Top notch quality. A smaller sized fig tree at maturity. Fruits are medium-large, plump, and simply excellent. Birds don’t notice this one as much due to the deceiving green/yellowish ripening color (not purple or brown, etc). This fig does GREAT in the Deep South all the way to the Gulf. It does not split or rot easily. Would thrive in warmer zones like 8-10. It shows good cold hardiness, but winter protection and a warm, sunny site are always advised in zones 6-7 for figs. Don’t miss this one! One of our very best. Also called ‘Green Ischia’ and ‘Verte’. This one ripens it’s fruit late, around late September here in KY.
