You asked for it, and now it’s here!  We now offer specific pawpaw cultivar seed.  How does this work?  We extract the seed from fruits of that specific named cultivar pawpaw tree.  For example, we extract seed from ‘Susquehanna’ fruits.  Those seeds contain ‘Suquehanna’ pawpaw genetics.  Understand, pawpaws are not like tomatoes or other seed that comes ‘true to type’.  So, ‘Suquehanna’ seed will vary somewhat from the parent tree.  HOWEVER, pawpaws come ‘close to type’ enough to display distinct characteristics from the parent tree. Start with excellent seed, you will get excellent results a large percentage of the time.  The pawpaw ‘doesn’t fall that far from the tree’ so to speak.  These are very rare seeds, with very limited quantities available.

ALL SEED ORDERS SHIP MARCH-APRIL 2025 – Our seed is cold stratified before shipment and ready to plant once it arrives.

We recommend planting in seedling containers in rich potting soil first and then planting these in the field or yard. Seedling trees must be grown in shade until 30 inches tall (year 2 or 3) and not in full sun and must never dry out. If grown in pots, the pots must never freeze solid and should always be moist.
