Description
Plump yellow-green fig with sweet, juicy, light amber pulp. Very productive and attractive fig. Handles wet summers and rains well and also disease-resistant, making it ideal for the humid south and Gulf areas. Popular selection for the Deep South. Birds don’t notice this one as much due to the deceiving yellow ripening color (not purple or brown, etc). Would thrive in warmer zones like 8-9. Winter protection and a warm, sunny site are always advised in zones 6-7 for figs. The LSU figs come out of the Louisiana Fig Breeding program started in the 1950s that successfully produced superior figs for the Deep South.
