From our mulberry trials comes an amazing new cultivar, 'Vajra'. Meaning 'diamond' in Sanskrit, these pearly white jewels adorn an especially lovely looking mulberry tree with beautiful, unusual foliage. Originally from a village in Turkey, this mulberry produces especially large and plump fruit. When fully tree ripened they are sugary sweet with no tang or tartness, just SWEET. Can develop some lavender coloration on the berries. Would be an excellent mulberry for drying. Non-staining. This cultivar survived our -5 F winter temps in 2022 without issue. Likely Morus alba. Shows resilience and lots of potential with the large, very sweet fruit. An excellent new addition and must-have if you like white mulberries. We are still trialing it here. Peaceful Heritage Nursery introduction.
NATURALLY GROWN - no synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, fungicides, neo-nictinoids, or other pesticides or toxic ag chemicals used at our nursery
Uses: Fresh eating, dehydrating.
Ripens: Mid June in KY.
Resistant to: Mulberries are remarkably free of disease and insects.
Site Selection: Well-drained soil and full sun.
Pollination:This mulberry requires no pollination in order to set fruit.
Zone 6-9 (estimate)
