Impressive production - produces far more berries than any other black raspberry! Two crops of high quality black raspberries per season! No longer are black raspberries just a spring treat- 'Niwot' is one of the first primocane black raspberries, meaning it bears fruit on the current seasons newly emerged canes, not just the 1 year old floricanes like most black raspberries. You therefore get a spring crop in June AND they resume bearing again in August until frost. WOW! Just keeps going and going with delicious black raspberry production! This substantially increases the yields of berries. The fruits are large, high quality, sweet berries similar to 'Jewel'; they ripen 1 week before 'Jewel'. Very cool new berry cultivar sure to please black raspberry fans! This is one of Blake's favorite plants at the PHN farm. Patented selection.
Black raspberries are one of the earliest fruits of the season, ripening in early-mid June (in KY), coinciding with mulberries and early blackberries. Black raspberries have over 3x the antioxidant power of blueberries!
