Shively Sugar Mulberry - Naturally Grown

'Shively Sugar' is a very sweet black fruited mulberry with prolific production of medium sized delicious berries. If you're looking for a semi-dwarf mulberry that tastes super-sweet and has very little "tang" or tartness, this is the one for you. Produces nice, plump mulberries in great abundance.  Perfect home mulberry variety.  Very productive, just drips with ripe fruit around early-mid-June. Berries are soft and juicy with a nice texture. They freeze very well and are a great cultivar for fresh eating or processing into anything calling for berries. These berries are so soft and sweet they cannot travel far, and will be hard to travel further than from the tree to your hand to your mouth.

Very productive and hardy semi-dwarf mulberry tree first discovered by us thriving in unfavorable conditions in a derelict urban jungle in Louisville (Shively), KY, around 2014. Mulberries grow very fast under good conditions and even the small size should be bearing fruit within a few seasons. Our mulberries are all high quality, cuttings-propagated.

Resistant to: Mulberries are generally resistant to insects and diseases.

Pollination: Mulberries need no pollination to set fruit.

Rootstock: Grafted onto native Red Mulberry (Morus rubra).

Plant Size:  CHOOSE SIZE. Plants are shipped without pots from Feb-May, bare-rooted when necessary.  Grown in 9-Inch tree pots.
