Wow! Extreme abundance of berries, excellent tangy-sweet flavor and months of production define this superior find. The superior qualities are three-fold: Extremely high yields of berries, delicious tangy-sweet perfect mulberry flavor with firm berries, and months of production. Whereas most wild mulberries fruit for about 3 weeks, PHN Jubilee Everbearing keeps dropping ripe fruit for at least 2 months, almost 3x as long of a season.
This one really impresses us with the quality of fruit and intense production. It's perhaps the best mulberry we have released to date and one we're excited to share with mulberry lovers and backyard growers all over.
We first found this amazing wild mulberry not far from the PHN farm, practically dripping fruit onto Kentucky Highway 150. It had so much fruit Blake spotted it at 60 mph. After years of observation and evaluations, he decided it was worthy of release into the nursery trade. It's likely an Alba x Rubra cross. Shows great environmental resiliency and cold hardiness, being unfazed in zone 6.
