The perfect species for grafting che fruit onto. We sell graftable size trees (around 1/4" diameter)
A popular native tree that produces a very large, brain-looking inedible fruit on female plants. They are thorny, with extremely hard durable wood. Used as living fences for centuries. Related to mulberries. They are used also as a rootstock for che fruit. Ours will be big enough to graft after about one more season of growth. Maclura pomifera. Produced from KY Grown Seed from PHN Farm.
Recommended for Organic Growing
Uses: Reforestation, wildlife, che berry rootstock.
Blooms: Blooms late and avoids frosts. Begins blooming about 4-5 years from planting.
Disease resistant species.
Native USA Tree.
