A high quality home orchard pear. Tom Burford is a renowned heirloom apple hunter, fruit expert and Southern gentleman in Virginia, and this is his favorite childhood pear tree. He describes the pears as firm fleshed, very sweet and delicious and the tree as hardy, resilient and fireblight “proof”. Pears are small, somewhat crisp, high quality and best for home use. He says they make excellent pear-pineapple preserves. Extremely rare cultivar. Read an article about Burford pears here: https://www.slowfoodusa.org/ark-item/burford-pear
