A heat and cold-hardy English Walnut seedling from a superior, heavily fruiting tree discovered in Danville, KY in 2017. That original tree has now been destroyed. We did manage to barely save it and will be planting out 1 of 2 still existing grafted specimens in 2020. That being said, these are the last ones. There will be no more of these (unless the grafted tree succeeds and we can get more seed from it).
Nuts were high quality, large and in abundance, which is extremely rare in this climate zone, where English walnuts almost never produce nuts, or anywhere near a full crop of nuts. These should perform better than average and appear very vigorous and healthy. Sprouted in 2017-2018, organically grown. More than 1 or 2 needed for cross pollination. These are actual photos of the tree we discovered.
RECOMMENDED FOR ORGANIC GROWING
USES: Excellent fresh eating, nut butters, cooking, nice shade tree.
RESISTANT TO: Summer heat, which usually damages English walnuts, and severe winter cold. Shows strong resistance to walnut hull worms.
POLLINATION: Must have a compatible pollination partner. 1 other seedling should do it but 2 is even better. Black walnut should pollinate this also.
Plant Size: 2 YR 6-12″ Tall in tall Tree-pot.
CANNOT SHIP WALNUTS TO: CALIFORNIA, TEXAS, ARIZONA
