NEW!!! Nanking bush cherries are the earliest fruit to ripen, after the lovely prolific bee-friendly blooms give way to the small, sweet-tart little cherries. In KY they ripen around early May! Grows only to a very manageable 7-8ft tall and wide. Make a great hedge, wildlife planting, honey bee plant and also are just wonderful for small spaces, backyards, gardens and children’s gardens. Trouble-free. Needs no spraying or pruning. Easy to grow! Extremely cold hardy down to USDA zone 3, possibly even 2!! The fruits are useful for fresh eating and jams, pies, etc., however they are small. They are true cherries but are a fascinating bush species originating in the cold, harsh Nanking mountains of China. You must have more than 1 Nanking cherry seedling to cross pollinate to get fruit, so plant at least 2-3 bushes about 7-10 ft apart. Does best in full sun, but will still produce in partial shade. Really neat! You will receive 2 Nanking cherry seedlings for excellent cross-pollination.
Trouble free and very easy to grow.
