Looking for a native no-care ground cover? Like cacti? Or just want something different? This native CACTUS is found throughout eastern USA fields as an occasional denizen. Very neat! Makes small, edible pink fruits in fall. Beautiful bright yellow blooms open in summer and attract bees. No care, will spread along the ground and makes a nice unusual groundcover. Does have small spines and glochids, so needs very careful handling. Easy to grow and supports native species. Sold as unrooted pads, these root very rapidly once planted.


Uses: Native ground cover, weed suppression, pollinators, edible fruits, medicinal uses, reforestation.

Resistant to: In our experience it is insect and disease free.

Site Selection: Well drained, sunny site. Not very particular about soil.

Pollination: Self-Pollinating.

Plant Size: You will receive (2) unrooted pads. Plant these 1-2 inches deep and keep moist and they readily establish.
