This exceptionally sweet, large blackberry is quite possibly the easiest to grow blackberry variety ever developed. Berries form on both 1- year old canes and the canes that just sprouted and grew during the current season! You can get 2 crops a summer, one in June and the 2nd in August! Or, after harvesting the berries in August, you can mow the whole patch down and it will regrow in spring and produce 1 crop per summer (again in August). Can’t get much easier than that. That’s the difference with Primocane blackberries.
If you enjoy pruning and/or would like TWO crops of blackberries per season, just let the canes overwinter after they fruit. That way, the new spring primocanes will fruit in August till frost and the 2nd year floricanes will fruit now in June for the 2nd time. Amazing! How could blackberries get much better than that? Developed by the University of Arkansas.
